The Baskey Freelancer Collective was founded by Brian Mackey and Leo Lehrbaß in 2021. We are a group of freelancers working together to consult and implement marketing, sales and service software for our clients: namely HubSpot software. We take our values seriously.
When should you choose „a little known collective„ over a „well-known agency?“
There are many reasons why you should choose a big agency to take care of your marketing work: In-house designers & programmers, many project managers and a good sense of „they do it well for other big firms, they will do a good enough job for us, too“.
What we offer is different. The dedicated HubSpot expert you talk with on your very first call is the same person that works on your data migration, builds your chatbot and landing pages, implements GDPR measures, manages your ads and consults with you on a one-to-one basis, explaining what he/she is doing along the way. We want to teach, implement and help you grow your organisation, not just „tick the boxes“.
How can two freelancers coming together achieve this? Please allow us to elaborate: We, Brian and Leo, met at HubSpot in 2019, working as Technical Support Specialists in the Dublin office. Knowing the ins and outs of the software was, and still is, our bread and butter. If we don’t know something, we know where to find the answer. The excellent training we received at HubSpot alongside the coaching/tutelage from our managers and colleagues allowed us to develop the appropriate skills in business software and strategic consulting that truly helps businesses grow.
Shortly after our time together in support, Brian became a Partner Success Manager in HubSpot while Leo already left the company in 2020 to start freelancing: Building websites and CRMs for his growing client base. Combining technical know-how with strategic knowledge, we don’t just tell people what to do but also teach them how to do it.

Successful Inbound Marketing and Sales depends on the combination of a variety of fields: Data quality, content creation and distribution, web & app design, ads, social and email, automation, third-party integrations and data analysis.
When I took my first job in a small startup, they were looking for someone to take care of the website. I raised one hand and googled „WordPress“ with the other.
I got to know blogs and SEO as a working student in online marketing at „innosabi“. Together with the company, I wrote my bachelor thesis on the effects of emotional contents in online marketing on various platforms.
At HubSpot in Dublin, I learned how to solve web design, hosting, automation and API problems of a demanding customer base on a high technical level, but within a short timeframe as a support specialist.
Since moving to Cologne in February 2020, I’ve worked as a HubSpot Consultant and Web-Designer.
We founded Baskey to work together and fulfil the needs of my and now our ever-growing customer base.
After graduating with my BSc in Psychology, I immediately jumped into the world of tech and started utilising my research skills.
This leap led me to Qualtrics, where I worked as a product specialist. In this position, I consulted researchers from academia all the way to digital marketing on how to implement research effectively online.
From there, I jumped on to the HubSpot technical support team, learning how to solve an array of issues, from website design to overall marketing strategy.
After a year in support, I was promoted to the Channel account specialist role. Within less than a year, I became a Partner success manager, consulting agencies/solutions providers on how to use and effectively implement the HubSpot platform.
As a founder of Baskey, I aim to provide quality implementation combined with overall strategy for organisations to get the most out of the software they use to invest in their business.
